MEET THE coaches
I’ve been doing taekwondo for 12 years and am a Third Dan Black Belt.
My specialist area is the dragon’s classes and birthday parties with our Warrior Factory Dragon! I have a degree in Primary Education with a specialism in Early Years Education.
I enjoy eating out and socialising with my friends. I particularly like to go to Nandos!
I am the Warrior Factory Leeds centre manager, I am responsible for the day to day operations at the venue and I am a birthday party host.
I have been training in Taekwondo since I was a young boy and joined Warrior Factory in 2009, I am a Fourth Dan Black Belt in the sport.
I personally love sparring and self defence in taekwondo; I also enjoy patterns and other areas of the sport.
I believe self development is key to student’s journeys; I like to push the boundaries in class and work past the difficult stages. Away from Taekwondo I enjoy inventing new things and looking at green energy solutions.
I have been teaching Taekwondo since 1996 and Ju Jitsu since 2009. I set up the first Warrior Factory in 2009 (Halifax) and the second in 2014 (Leeds).
My specialisation areas are the combat methods of Ju Jitsu and coaching Sport Taekwondo.
I have a BSc and MSc in Sports Coaching from Leeds Beckett University and enjoy studying motivation, decision making and how habits are formed.
My favourite food is anything spicy and my favourite holiday destination is Crete
I started with Warrior Factory as a parent in the spring of 2015 and I was delighted when I found out that Phil wanted to start a ju-jitsu class at the Leeds Venue and that I would have the opportunity to teach again. I started doing Ju-Jitsu in 1986, I got my 1st Dan in 1995 and then waited a long time to do my 2nd Dan in 2018.
My specialism is throwing and arm-locks, ideally done at the same time. And my preferred weapon is Katana.
When I’m not thinking about Ju-Jitsu, I’m thinking about Star Wars. One day, when I grow up, I hope to become a Jedi.
I have been with Warrior Factory since 2016 and a Second Dan Black Belt in taekwondo.
My favourite areas of the sport are sparring and competing. I have won many medals in Sparring competitions and have also competed in Patterns competitions.
I enjoy eating out and socialising with friends.
I am an assistant instructor in taekwondo classes.
I have been with Warrior Factory since I was 5 years old (2009) and am a Third Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.
My favourite areas in the sport are sparring and competing, my biggest achievement to date is that I became national champion in my weight category in 2018.
I am an avid football fan of Manchester United.
I am an apprentice at Warrior Factory and am learning the ropes of the various job roles here.

Warrior Factory Leeds CIC
The original Warrior Factory martial arts centre was opened in Hipperholme, Halifax in April 2009. After the success of the first venue coach Phill Payne searched for another area with a similar demographic and North Leeds selected. After taking over a small Taekwondo club based in what is now the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Fink Hill, Horsforth, it wasn’t long before the club was looking for a full time venue similar to the one in Halifax.
Several venues were viewed in North Leeds but the choice came down to two units which were both based in West Park. The first unit already had D2 planning permission having previously been a soft play area but the toilets in the building were in the room that would be the only room that could home the martial arts training room. The second unit was larger and had scope for two training rooms (one for Taekwondo and one for Ju Jitsu). Although we had to apply for ‘change of use’ planning permission we managed to negotiate good terms for the unit at Wira Business Park just on the Ring Road. We moved in to this unit in 2014.
In 2018 Wira Business Park was sold to new owners. Although this was the third owner since we moved in during 2014, this landlord was a little more merciless and within 6 month had increased the service charge for the unit by 90% and had shown signs that they would be looking to substantially increase the rent once the lease expired. With this in mind Phill started looking for a new venue. After viewing several units between Horsforth and Meanwood, another unit was viewed only 100 meters from Wira Business Park. As location and travel time was an important factor to our members, we decided the venue would be great for us. This was fortunate as when the terms of the lease renewal came though for Wira Business Park, they had increased the rent by 80%.
Over Christmas and New Year 2019-2020 we moved the whole club from Wira business Park to Unit 3 Clayton Park on Clayton Wood Rise. Over the 6 year we had operated from our first venue we have grown from around 12 members to 225 children, teens and adults. The new venue was in a detached building with a dedicated car park and that allowed us much more control over the operation of the venue. Today we continue to run Dragons, Taekwondo and Ju Jitsu classes from Unit 3 Clayton Park and we plan to stay here for at least 6 years.
